I was trying to think of questions for the James response and i was wondering how he could say that religion can be found any- and everywhere, and yet only experienced within oneself....but that's just it...religion can be all around us because people make it so. even though we are experiencing religion in our own personal ways it can and is still found all around us. in a way, it religion can be seen as all around us because we're constantly surrounded by other ppl and their experiences. although the experience is individual, it can still be seen to relate to a religious whole.
I've never thought myself to be a religious person (i don't even have a religion to label myself "as"), however I'm beginning to understand James' idea in lecture 1 that anything can be religious if that's how we personally choose to see it. I like the idea that religion doesn't have to be dictated and it can be what you want it to be and what you make of it. that's how i've always imagined religion to be ideally, and i think James touches on that in his first 2 lectures
